Every day, local and state governments, as well as the federal government, are considering and adopting new ordinances, regulations or laws   that impact the real estate industry and the business community at large. Local governments are especially active in a thriving area such as the Charlotte region, where local governments are constantly addressing the opportunities and challenges that come with sustained economic growth and development in the region.

Government decision-makers must be fully informed if they are tofind effective solutions to the issues they are considering, and to do so they must take into account the economic and practical impact of their actions. In order to foster this effective and informed decision-making, the business community must bring comprehensive and authoritative research and analysis to the public policy debate..

Responding to this need, community and real estate industry leaders in Charlotte established the Piedmont Public Policy Institute (PPPI), a non-profit 501 (c) (3) research and education organization. The mission of the PPPI is to:

  • Provide much-needed analysis and research on a range of important issues, ensuring that economic and business aspects of matters are considered.
  • Partner with universities, corporations and other organizations on various research projects.
  • Sponsor educational conferences for members of the business community, as well as government leaders, interested citizens, and the media.
